OBIT: Lee E. Smith of Grove died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo. He was 77.
Smith was born Sept. 6, 1925, in Bakersfield, Calif., to Clarence and Bertha (Ellis) Smith.
He moved to Grove in 1994 from Tucson, Ariz. He was a business entrepreneur. He was the second president of the Grand Lake Association.
He married Dolores M. Williams on July 6, 1947 in Carthage, Mo. She preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 1997.
Survivors include one son and his wife, Steven and Lori Smith of Oceanside, Calif.; two daughters, Kristi Friedman and her husband Allen of Mesa, Ariz., and Patricia Herrington of Cooper City, Fla.; one sister and her husband, Lois and Paul Stanley of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one brother-in-law and his wife, Samuel D. "Dave" and Carolyn Williams III of Grove; his mother-in-law, Mabel L. Williams of Grove, and three grandchildren, Andrea Herrington, Tyler Smith and Jacey Smith.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Olympus Cemetery with Ralph Davis officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Family Funeral Home of Grove.
