Obituary
Donald Robert Alcott was born on October 16, 1932 in Grove Lake, MN to Gail and Mae (Abraham) Alcott. He attended school in Sedan and Nelson, and graduated from Alexandria High School.

Donald was united in marriage to Ruth Pantze on September 20, 1955 in Webster, SD. The couple made their home in Alexandria. In 1956, Donald was drafted into the U.S Army and was stationed at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas until 1958. He returned to Alexandria and started working at Skelgas as the branch manager. He worked there for over 30 years retiring in 1992. Donald then drove truck for Nelson Creamery for a few years.

Donald enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially his deer hunting trips with his brother, Tim. He was very mechanical and able to fix anything. Donald also enjoyed woodworking and making bookshelves and chests for his grandchildren.

Donald died on Friday, June 30, 2017 at St. Williams Living Center in Parkers Prairie, MN at the age of 84.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Alcott of Alexandria; daughter, Sandy (James) Erickson of Brainerd; grandchildren, Patrick and Holly Erickson; brother, Dean (Rose) Alcott of Alexandria, and Gail “Tim” (Joanna) Alcott of Frazee; Lucille (John) Hessel of Apple Valley, and Janet (Roger) Hanson of Corcoran, MN; brother-in-law, Harold Pantze of St. Joseph; and many nieces and nephews.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Gail and Mae.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be held at Villard Cemetery in Villard. Military Honors are provided by Alexandria American Legion Post 87, VFW Post 936, VVA Chapter 235 Rifle Squad and the Minnesota National Honor Guard.
