Obituary
Unidentified Newsclipping - 1883
POTTER.--Mrs. Huldah Potter was born in Athol, Vermont, March 31, 1801, and died in Morris, Otsego Co., New York, Dec. 12, 1883, aged 82 years, 9 months and 11 days. Mother Potter was converted at the age of eighteen, and for sixty-five years had walked with God. A woman of great energy and activity, yet humble and a lover of peace. For thirty-three years she had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Morris, and none had sustained it more faithfully with their hearty services than she. All her work was done as unto the Lord, with a conscientiousness which honored the golden rule. Her deep religious experience and strong faith in God enabled her to pass triumphantly through the portals of death. Her children and grandchildren (among whom are the Revs. B. P. and Nelson Ripley, of Wyoming Conference, of the Methodist Episcopal Church) rise up and call her blessed. In church and community she will long be missed. The words of Paul, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith," rarely seen as appropriate for the subject of a funeral discourse as in her case.
