Florence Lillian (Borstad) Hiepler
, born November 19, 1920, was the youngest of three children of Adolph and Bertha Borstad of Tioga, ND. Fluent in Norwegian, she attended Tioga High School and Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN, where she performed as a soloist in the choir and graduated with a degree in English Education. She then taught in McGregor and Tioga, North Dakota.

On August 22, 1945, she married Orville G. Hiepler from Springbrook, North Dakota, a graduate of Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN, and a pastor in Pasco, WA.

For 65 years, the couple served and planted churches in Pasco, WA, Sacramento, Hawthorne, Camarillo, and Oceanside, CA. Her gifting of music and teaching greatly complimented her husband's zeal for the church, and her passion for friendships and hospitality inspired their many parishioners to join tours that they led to the Holy Land, Africa and throughout Europe, including Norway her ancestral home. Ten years ago Orville and Florence celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their children and grandchildren by leading a tour to Australia and New Zealand.

In 2010, they returned to Camarillo to live near their son, Mark Hiepler, and his family. Florence remained the love of Orville's life until God took her home to heaven on August 21, 2015, the day before they were to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Adoph and Bertha Borstad; sister, Bernell (Borstad) Baalson; brother, Morris Borstad; and daughter, Nelene (Hiepler) Fox.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Orville Hiepler of Camarillo, CA; daughters, Dorene (Curt) Mc Dougall of Golden Valley MN, and Ilene (Robert) Bradberry of Lake Forest, CA; son, Mark (Michelle) Hiepler of Camarillo, CA; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; sister/cousin, Lorrayne Lindsoe of Fargo, ND; niece, Corrine Kjelvik of Mesa, AZ; and nephew, Juris Borstad, Kalispell, MT.

Her family thanks Yolanda, Elizabeth and the caregivers of Serenity Heights for their loving attention to Florence over the past two years.

Funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd Church, 380 Arneil Rd. in Camarillo, on Saturday, August 29 with a viewing beginning at 10:30 a.m., service will start at 11:00 A.M. followed by a reception. Burial will be held at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will take place on Friday, August 28 from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 p.m. at Conejo Mountain Funeral Home, 2052 Howard Rd., Camarillo, CA.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given to the: "FLORENCE HIEPLER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND," C/O Orville Hiepler, 5021 Verdugo Way, Suite 105, Camarillo, CA. 93012.

With a heart for hospitality, Florence was a loyal servant of Jesus Christ, an extraordinary Pastor's wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and an inspiring educator and choir director.
