Lonnie Roy Shoemaker of Phoenix, Arizona, born October 5, 1949 in St Louis, Missouri to Benjamin and Lillian (Hodge) Shoemaker, left this life, December 2, 2015.
Lonnie worked for various tire companies before he retired in 2004. He loved working on family tree, a labor of love, and a responsibility to past and future generations.
Above all else, Lonnie was 'Papa,' a name he valued for most of his adult life. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren reveling in their accomplishments.
He was preceded in death by parents Benjamin and Lillian Shoemaker, siblings Doris, Russell and Ben Shoemaker.
Those left to treasure his memory and continue his legacy include his best friend and loving wife of 37 years, Barbara Shoemaker, his daughters Lori Parsons and Angel (husband-Lance) Barber, and son, Chris Jones. His grandchildren: Josh Badolato; Bradley, Anne, Emilee Barber; Rebecca, Jeremy Jones; Kaitlin, Alana Parsons; and Nicholas Lewis. Great-grandchildren: Miko, Malachi, Noah, and Abby Badolato. Brothers: Richard (wife-Donna), Stan (wife-Melody), and Lester Shoemaker and sister, Pat Sowash.
Celebration of Lonnie's life will be held in the chapel at North Phoenix Baptist Church, 5757 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85012, on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 11:00 am.
