John S. Spangler

HOWARD - John S. Spangler, 61, of Bellefonte R.D. 3, died Sunday at 5:55 p.m. in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Mr. Spangler was born on August 7, 1917 in Tylersville, the son of the late Robert and Emma Walizer Spangler. He was married to the former Zefma Dullen.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellefonte, the Walker Township Fire Company, the Miles Township Fire Company, and the Central District Volunteer Firemen's Association. He was also a social member of the Bellefonte Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Betty White, of Middleburg; Mrs. Carol Barrier, of Cambridgeshire, England, and Miss Susan Spangler, at home; two sons, John S. Spangler Jr, of Wheaton, Maryland, and Robert E. Spangler, of Rebersburg.

Also surviving are four brothers, Russell Spangler, of Rebersburg; Harry Spangler, of Hublersburg; Paul Spangler, of Smulton, and Dean Spangler, of Clearfield; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Hough, of Tylersville, and Mrs. Ruth Orner, of Corry; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in St. John's Lutheran Church, Bellefonte, with the Reverend Carl E. Miller officiating.

Burial was in Snydertown Cemetery, Howard RD.

The funeral was directed by the Neff Funeral Home, Howard.
