William Dentler Ramm, Jr., 62, of Rantoul, passed away suddenly Sunday, September 17, 2017, at home.

William was born on November 10, 1954, in Danville, the son of William Dentler and Nancy Ellen (Cessna) Ramm Sr. He married Joy Gayle Sandow on August 30, 1975, at the Hope Church of Christ. She preceded him in death on September 14, 2014.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law- Travis Sutton.

Together, William and Joy raised two sons-Jason (Samantha) Stephens and Jeromy Ramm. William was also a grandfather to Hannah Parrish, Jacob Ramm and Rileigh Ramm. He also leaves behind his siblings Robert (Donna) Ramm, Gail (Steve) Pruiett, Anita (Alan) Schluter, Alex (Vicki) Ramm and Lois Sutton.

William was an uncle and a great-uncle to many. William will be sorely missed by all who knew him and loved him. He attended Armstrong Township High School, where he began his love of sports. He also attended Danville Area Community College. William was an employee at the University of Illinois, Village of Rantoul and the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. He was a member of Rantoul Masonic Lodge 470. He enjoyed fixing things as a mechanic, hunting, fishing, being outdoors, avid Illini and Bears fan and he loved talking politics. He will always be remembered as a good friend that would always lend an ear, bring a smile to someone’s face and make a bad day better. William was always full of fun and jokes.

A Celebration of William’s Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac, with Pastor Jay Johnson officiating. Masonic Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will follow in Embury Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
