Jennings: It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Clifton Murry Bergeaux, Sr. announces his passing from this life on September 11, 2017 at the age of 74. Clifton was born in Millerville, LA to Joseph Bergeaux and Theresa Bertrand Bergeaux on July 23, 1943. Clifton loved the outdoors, he worked as a farm hand, he also loved hunting, fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Clifton never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Clifton is survived by his beloved wife, Merline R. Bergeaux of Basile, LA; his two sons, Clifton M. Bergeaux, Jr. of Basile, LA, Christopher J. Bergeaux of New Orleans, LA; his two daughters, Peggy J. Bergeaux of Basile, LA, Helen M. Vidrine and her spouse, Gy Vidrine of Basile, LA; his brother, Weston Bergeaux of Eunice, LA; his nine grandchildren, Monica, Christopher, Ayla, Malachi, Shelbi, Gregory, Haeven, Kanen, and Zeb; four great-grandchildren.
Clifton was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Theresa Bertrand Bergeaux; three brothers, Oscar and Chester Bergeaux, John Kratzer, Sr. (half-brother)
Funeral Services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings, LA on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Father Charles McMillin officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA beginning on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 2:30 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, September 13th from 8:00 AM until the time of his service at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Reed Cemetery. Carrying Clifton to his final resting place will be Greg Bergeaux, Malachi Bergeaux, Kanen Vidrine, Christopher Cormier, Darren Reed and Joey Reed.
