Luke grew up in Athens, graduating from Athens High School, the University of North Texas, and Baylor College of Dentistry. He began his dental practice in Naples in 1962 and was still working at the time of his death.
Luke was involved in many civic activities. He was past president of the Naples Chamber of Commerce, past president to the Naples Omaha Lions Club, and an officer in the Texas Dental Association. He also spent 14 years on the Naples City Council, and he was a trustee on the Pewitt School Board. Luke was on the Morris County Child Welfare Board for several years as well. He taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church in Naples for many years.
Luke was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jo Beth Collier and Carol Clements; and one grandson, Christopher Collier.
Surviving family members include his wife of 42 years, Lahoma Collier of Naples; four sons, Bryan Collier and wife LaDonna of Huntsville, Randy McMichael and wife Lisa of Flower Mound, Scott McMichael and wife Beth of Naples, and Brad Collier and wife Dee of Marshall; one daughter Bonnie Best of Gilmer; daughter-in-law Vickie Collier of Marshall; grandchildren, Ashley Walker and husband Mitch, Corey Logan, Rusty Collier, Blake McMichael, Matt McMichael, Josh McMichael, Jesse Collier, Jonah Collier, Matthew Collier, Zachary Ebert, and Maddie Ebert; great-grandchildren, Madison, Tanner, and Landri; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Naples with Bro. David Blase and Bro. Tommy Weems officiating. Interment will follow at Leesburg Cemetery in Leesburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leesburg Cemetery Association.
