DAY, Paul Mason, 74, of Gold Bond, died Saturday morning, November 8, 1997, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born in Gary, W.Va., on April 10, 1923, he was a son of Mrs. Roba Collins Day of Rich Creek and the late Thomas J. Day Sr.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II serving with the 3rd Army in the European Theatre, was a member of Post #6000 of the VFW at Narrows and earned his living until he retired as a millwright.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas J. Day Jr. and Robert Lee Day.

Surviving in addition to his mother are two sons, Jerry Paul Day of Roanoke and Chad Day of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Marty Day Shibley of Roanoke; five brothers, W. E. (Gene) Day and Dewey E. Day of Gold Bond, J. Edward Day of Pembroke, Walter L. Day of Appomattox and Bill B. Day of Columbiaville, Mich.; four sisters, Lilly D. Hodge and Martha D. Baisden of Christiansburg, Dorothy D. Skroblus of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Gerlean D. Mabe of Ridgeway; three grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 1997, at Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke. Burial will be in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow Street in Pembroke from 6 to 8 Monday evening. Graveside military rites will be performed by the VFW and American Legion posts of Giles County.
