Biography

Lucinda Hanks was born to Fielden and Lydia (Harper) Hanks[1] in Montgomery County, Kentucky.[2]

She married Joel Chambers on 27 March 1828 in (then) Morgan County, probably Campton, which is now in Wolfe County.[3]

Child of Joel and Lucinda (Hanks) Chambers:

Jasper C. Chambers, b. 8 May 1829 in Campton, m. (1) Susanna Falkner, (2) Elizabeth Spencer[4][5]
Lucinda and Joel must have divorced. Lucinda married, second, Henry Evans, on 2 March 1833 in Estill County.[6] (Joel married, second, Mary Jane Simmons.)[7]

Children of Henry and Lucinda (Hanks) Evans:[8][9]

Sarah Ann Evans ("Sally Ann"), b. abt. 1835, m. Samuel Alexander Duff[10][11]
Margaret Evans, b. abt. 1838
Ann Evans, b. abt. 1838
Lydia Jane Evans, b. abt. 1840-'42, m. Alexander Drake, divorced in 1870s[12][13][14]
Nancy Evans, b. abt. 1845
Henry Evans, b. abt. 1846, m. Perlina Crawford[15][16]
John Evans, b. abt. 1848
James Monroe Evans, b. abt. 1850-'53, m. (1) Martha J. ___, (2) Tabitha Osborn[17][18]
Amilla Evans, b. abt. 1852
Robert A. Evans, b. 28 February 1856[19]
Henry Evans, her husband, died before 1870, in which year Lucinda was living with her daughter Sally Ann (Evans) Duff and family in Campton.[11]

In one version of this now-merged profile, it was asserted Henry died in 18651, that his grave is in the Evans Cemetery in Canyon Falls, Lee County, Kentucky, that Lucinda died on 18 June 1894 and that her grave is there, as well.

However, the other version pointed to a gravestone in Coryell County, Texas which may be hers, giving her dates as 4 August 1809 - 1 February 1895.[20]

Lucinda would have been in the area with her son Jasper Chambers. A photo purportedly of the two of them with her grandson Alvin Chambers, produced by a studio i Gatesvile, Texas, is [posted in a family tree on ancestry.com.
