Kenneth Ken Arch, 85, of Sioux City went home to be with his Savior and Lord on Monday, September 1, 2008.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, from 4:00-8:00 PM with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel (3220 Stone Park Boulevard in Sioux City, Iowa).

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 20, at Central Baptist Church (4001 Indian Hills Drive in Sioux City, Iowa).

A light lunch will be served at the church immediately following the service.

Interment will be held on Saturday, September 20, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery (6605 Morningside Avenue in Sioux City, Iowa).

Ken Arch was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on April 4, 1923, to Ransom & Lydia Arch. Ken graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1940. He went on to attend and graduate from Iowa University, in Iowa City, with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1943. During WWII, he served seven years in the 11th airborne division Parachute Infantry. On March 30, 1949 he married Gayle V. Erickson, the love of his life.

Ken's life was spent loving his wife, family, and serving his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ by teaching the Bible to youth and adults. For a period of several years Ken also ministered to the local deaf population through Bible Classes, interpreting and one-on-one teaching. He worked as a salesman for Corn Belt Supply Company, a teacher at Western Iowa Tech, a draftsman for Haakinson & Beaty and a construction manager for Iowa Beef Processors. He was a member and elder of Central Baptist Church, Sioux City, Iowa

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Dean and Wilbur and a son, Jon Steven Arch.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gayle, of 59 years, two sons and spouses, David and Sue Arch of Papillion, Nebraska and John and Brenda Arch of LaVista, Nebraska; grandchildren Rick Arch, Melissa Ryan, Krystal Daniel, Peggy Casper, Cameron Arch, and Nicholas Arch; great grandchildren Aurora Ensz, Noah Ryan, and Logan Arch, and sister, Pauline Licko of Moline, Illinois and a brother, Ben Arch of Indianpolis, Indiana.

The family requests that memorials be sent to Gideon International (PO Box 932, Sioux City, Iowa 51102) and/or The First Endowment Fund of The Central Baptist Church (4001 Indian Hills Drive, Sioux City, Iowa 51108).
