OBIT- page 2, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 THE DAILY NEWS, Lebanon, Pennsylvania A Hiram Deck, 78, of Lebanon died Saturday, 21 April 2007, in his home and surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Marqueen Ann Riegel, with whom Deck he celebrated 57 joyous years of marriage on 18 June 2006.

Born in Palmyra on 13 June 1928, he was the son of the late Ray F. and Maggie E. Deck. Hiram was a 1946 graduate of Palmyra Area High School and attended Maryland University, served in the armed forces in 1946 as an administrative specialist for the U.S. Armys historical division, a part-time proofreader at the Lebanon Daily News, and a retiree of the Bethlehem Steel Lebanon Plant.

During Hirams active membership at St. James Lutheran Church, he also served as president of the church council, first vice president of Lebanon County Lutheran Churchmen, superintendent of the Sunday school system, chairman of the property committee, president of Fellowship Circle, a tenor in the church choir and lay assistant. His many hobbies and talents included gardening, reading, printing of the church bulletins, camping and cooking, but most importantly spending time with his wife and family.

Surviving in addition to his wife are sons and daughter; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in celebration of Hirams life on Friday, 27 April 2007, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, Lebanon, followed by lunch in the social hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Second and Chestnut streets, Lebanon, Pennsylvania, 17042.
