Virginia was born October 26, 1916 in Bonham, Texas, the daughter of James Briscoe McDowell and Minnie Roberts McDowell. She married Louie Bragg “L.B.” “Red” Acree on Sept. 19, 1938 in Atoka, Oklahoma. After 55 years of marriage, he preceded her in death Oct. 27, 1993.
Virginia was a homemaker who loved having coffee with friends, cooking for family gatherings and enjoyed her granddaughters, great grandchildren and nieces. She liked working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, watching soap operas and movies and sharing her famous macaroni and cheese.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Freddie Don Acree, her daughter, Alicia Kay Acree Harris, her granddaughter, Jennifer Harris Holman, two brothers, Robert Earl McDowell and Ira William McDowell, four sisters, Elizabeth Thompson, Helen Scrivner, Mildred Tarver Sutton, and Pauline McDowell, her nephew, James Bowen, and her great nephew, Robert Bowen.
