Robert Joseph Moore, Sr., “Bob”, 72, of Tampa, Florida, passed away Friday, September 22, 2017, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous and lengthy battle.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 25, 1945, Bob grew up in West Virginia before moving to Tampa. A graduate of Jesuit High School, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and the Florida National Guard and was a Vietnam veteran. Bob loved the mountains of North Carolina and considered Blowing Rock his second home. He had always been a mentor and friend to many in our community and someone others turned to for advice or help.

Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 46 years, Dottie; his two children, Pam (Ben) McCoy and Robert (Ashley) Moore; brother Jeff (Sandy) Moore, nephew Jay Garcia, nieces Lynsay Moore and Carrie Deyo; and many loving cousins. He was the most special “Papa” to Peyton and Preston McCoy and Jackson and Dylan Moore. Bob is preceded in death by his father, Robert Preston Moore, his mother, Theresa “Kitty” Florence Moore, and brother, Gary Allen Moore.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017, at 9 A.M. with a funeral Mass to follow at 10 A.M. at Christ the King Catholic Church, Tampa. Interment with military honors will be at 1 P.M. at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

The family thanks BayCare and St. Joseph’s Hospital for their dedication and compassion.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fisher House Foundation, 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850, or at https://donate.fisherhouse.org in honor of Robert J. Moore.
