Mr. Deaton proudly served in the United States Army in Korea and retired from Ford Motor Company after 35 years. During retirement, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving Shorty are sons, Robbie (and wife, Roxa) of Edinburgh, Larry (and wife, Martha) of Fairland, Gary (and wife, Joyce) of Greenfield and Kenneth of Charlottesville; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 29, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 West US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. A graveside committal service will take place at 3:30 p.m. at Dale Cemetery, 801 N. Gregg Rd, Connersville, IN 47331 with full military rites presented.
