She was born in Port Angeles to Earl and Jessie DeEtta (Taylor) Hughett.
After graduating from Ballard High School in Seattle, she went on to Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Seattle, where she became a registered nurse.
She married Albert J. "Bud" Ammeter in 1947.
A resident of Chimacum since 1947, Mrs. Ammeter was the office nurse for Dr. John Rowe's practice in Port Townsend.
In addition to extensive international travel, she was esteemed for her homebaked blackberry pies.
She is a former Port Hadlock Citizen of the Year.
She was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Port Hadlock and Children's Hospital Orthopedic Guild as well as past Worthy Matron of the International Order of the Eastern Star and former member of the Lions Club.
Mrs. Ammeter's survivors include son and daughter-in-law John and Sue Ammeter; sons Tom and Raymond Ammeter; stepbrothers Bob Anderson and Bill Anderson; sister-in-law Aileen McDaniel; and two grandchildren.
Her husband died in May 1986.
Services: March 10, 1 p.m. memorial in Community United Methodist Church, 130 Church Lane, Port Hadlock. The Rev. Lindsy L. Ireland will officiate.
