Shelia Ann Barnett-Peel, 50, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Lafayette, LA.

Shelia was a graduate of Delgado Community College with a degree in Business and C.P.A. She later earned a degree in the Studies of Divinity, and was ordained as a minister in December of 2015 at New Home Ministry of Baton Rouge. Shelia was employed as an accountant with Sodexo at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Beloved wife of Duane Peel, Sr. Devoted mother of Shenita Barnett and Tobias Houston. Stepmother of Duane, Jr. (Ashley, Deoan (Kia), Darius, Orlian, Dorian, and Dagna. Loving grandmother of Shaniyah Barnett. Daughter of Jacqueline Jilles and the late Buford Barnett, Sr. Stepdaughter of the late Andrew Jilles, Sr. Granddaughter of the late Josephine Lovely. Sister of Cynthia Campbell, Melvina Smith, Melvin Baham, Jr., Ronnie Baham, Andrew Jilles, Jr., Nakomus (Wanda) Barnett, Alonquin (Tanya) Barnett, Shamarie Barnett, Telisa (Kevin) Clark, Buford (Megan) Barnett and Genese Barnett. Goddaughter of the late Samuel Green, Sr. Former wife of Elder Wayne Houston; also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other, relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of New Home Ministries, Beacon Light, New Destiny Christian Center, Life Center and Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Nashville, TN; employees of Sodexo of the University of Lafayette and Tulane University and Roubion Construction are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service at New Home Ministries, 1616 Robert C. Blake Dr., New Orleans, LA on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until service time at the above named church.
