Tammy was born September 2, 1961 in Hamilton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Hurkman, mother Diana Phillippe, maternal and paternal grandparents and father-in-law, Jack Mercer.
On October 15, 1977, she was united in marriage to Rick Mercer. He survives of the home.
She is also survived by daughters, Holly (Keith) Preston, Gilman City, MO; Connie (Jason) Jenkins, Pickering, MO; son, Charlie (Jeni) Mercer, St. Joseph; grandchildren, Kyler, Landon and Mason Preston, Jordan, Andrea and Samuel Jenkins, Ian, Molly and Timothy Mercer; sister, Helen Hiley, Gallatin; brothers, Ron (Tammi) Hurkman, Gentry; Ken Hurkman, Montana; mother-in-law, Connie Mercer, Gentry; step-father, Ron Phillippe, Stanberry; several nieces and nephews.
Tammy worked at Energizer Battery Co. in Maryville, MO for 15 years. She then worked at Places and Pamida as a manager until her health failed her. Tammy was a member of the Gentry Christian Church, where she served with the youth during VBS. Tammy and her family and friends participated in PKD Walk for a Cure fundraiser to raise awareness for PKD.
Tammy’s hobbies included gardening, scrapbooking and watching her beloved St. Louis Cardinals and attended as many games as she could.
Her pride and joy was her kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews. All of her free time was devoted to attending their numerous activities. You were likely to see her in her chair or the stands cheering for them.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
