Joyce Steele, age 78, of Plainwell passed away peacefully on Sept. 20, 2017. Joyce was born on December 26, 1938 to Alton & Nelda (Weller) Ayers. Visit with her family and friends at her celebration of life gathering on Friday, Sept. 29 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Life Story Funeral Home, Plainwell; 120 Woodhams St. . A graveside service has taken place. Joyce's family includes her daughter; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Alton & Nelda and her step father Robert Hall; two children: Suzy Steele and Mike Steele. She really enjoyed nature, in particular flowers and trees. Joyce enjoyed traveling and loved an adventure. She lived for her grandchildren and always enjoyed creating memories with her lifelong friends and relatives. Joyce worked for Allegan Intermediate School District and Grand Rapids Public Schools as an Adaptive Physical Education and swimming teacher with special needs Student for over 30 years. The family would like to thank Joyce's partner, for his love and support over her last year and a half. Memorial donations can be made to the SPCA of Kalamazoo or Allegan.
