Charles Alton “Chuck” Adams, 84, of Cheyenne passed away Sept. 27 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.

He was born March 5, 1933, on the family farm near Shoal Creek, Ark., to Edith (Dotson) and Carl B. Adams. Much of his boyhood was spent working the farm and enjoying the Arkansas countryside, swimming in Shoal Creek, hunting and fishing.

He graduated from Ozark High School in Ozark, Ark., in 1951. In 1956, after a four-year enlistment in the U.S. Air Force, he attended Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan., where he met the love of his life.

On Jan. 27, 1957, he married Lois Elaine Rogers in Wellington, Kan. Following their marriage, Chuck reenlisted and began a 21-plus-year career in the Air Force that saw assignments in Rabat, Morocco, North Africa; Kansas City, Mo.; and F. E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, where he retired in 1973.

Shortly after leaving the Air Force, he began a second career with United Parcel Service as a feeder driver, retiring in 1995 after more than 20 years. In the years after his retirement from UPS, Chuck enjoyed working on their “Back Acher” homestead, cheering and cussing the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos, as well as hunting and fishing.

In January 2017, Chuck and Lois celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with family and friends. They reminisced with joy on all the changes, challenges and blessings that 60 years of married life brings.

Charles was a member of First United Methodist Church and The American Legion Post 6.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, John Lloyd Adams, Carl Lindal Adams and Lonnie Russell Adams.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Lois; son, Kendall (Nikki) Adams; only grandchild, Hannah Grace; and a brother, Robert Earl Adams of West Memphis, Ark.
