Dover – Ervin V. Bascom, 81, of 18 Applevale Drive died suddenly Friday November 14, 2003 at his home.
Born in Frankfort, Maine on April 18, 1922 the son of Henry and Gertrude (Ellingwood) Bascom. He was a graduate of the Hampden (ME) Schools and was a former resident of Winterport, ME prior to moving to Dover more than 43 years ago.
He had formerly worked for the Maine Medical Center and Clarostat Manufacturing Co. and worked for the Kidder Press Co./Moore Business Forms Co. until his retirement.
Ervin was a longtime mason having belonged to the Harvard Lodge #69 of Masons, Winterport, ME. He loved gardening and cars.
The widower of Dora Eva (Cole) Bascom who died in 1995, he is survived by three daughters Judith A. Bascom of Dover, Rhoda and her husband John McAtavey of Berwick, ME, Debra Mangum and her companion Marty Welch of Barrington, three grandchildren Christopher Magnum and his wife Kelly of Dover, Keith McAtavey of Sanford, ME, Heather McAtavey of Berwick, ME, a great-granddaughter Kaylee McAtavey of Sanford, ME a sister Glenys Ramer of St. Petersburg, FL and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife two brothers Herbert Bascom and Elmer J. Bascom, and a sister Ethel Nutting predeceased him.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday evening from 7-9pm at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave, Dover. Funeral services will be held 1pm Tuesday at the Tasker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Flowers are acceptable, or those who wish may make memorials in his name to the charity of one’s own choice.
