Paul Woodrow Bairefoot aged 74 of Ionia, MI passed away on September 29, 2017. He was born on November 20, 1942 in Gaston, SC to Thomas and Lucile Bairefoot. Paul married the love of his life, Eloise “Ellie” Shattuck on August 17, 1987 in Ionia, MI. Paul Bairefootwas an Army veteran, and, served as a prison guard for 23 years. During that time, he took great pride in serving the state and his country and in helping people turn their lives around.
Paul Bairefoot was witty, tough, and stubborn. A firm believer that nothing comes to those who don’t work for it, he did everything he could to teach his family the importance of having a strong sense of humility and a giving heart. Paul loved NASCAR racing, discussing politics, and telling jokes. But most of all, he loved being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Eloise Bairefoot. Children, Kimberly Bairefoot Courtney (Ralph), Sean Bairefoot, Tonya Tate-Clayton (Kevin), Tabatha “TJ” Tate-Barclay (Craig), Todd Meuir. Grandchildren, Leah Courtney, Tyler Tate, Ryan Courtney, Hadlie Clayton, Tori Cain (Ryan), Westley Bairefoot, Brianna Courtney, Kaylynn Bairefoot. Great-Grandchildren, Kylie Town, Braylee Clayton, Carson Favreau, Logan Tate, Michael Bairefoot, Preston Tate, Aubree Clayton. He was preceded in death by his parents. Sister, Janie Hutto. Brothers, Eagle Bairefoot, Eddie Bairefoot, Billy Goodwin. Daughter, Melissa Bairefoot Moyer. Grandchild, Kevin Clayton II.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time.
