On Sunday October 1st at 4 p.m., our department lost Micheal Cody Tweedy to an automobile accident. Cody was an incredible asset to our department, which he volunteered at for the last 15 years. He was an Engineer and Hazmat tech who inspired and taught many of us the aspects of operating and driving fire apparatus and always had a great story to tell. Cody adored John Deere tractors, fire trucks, Star Wars and farming. Cody was loved and respected by so many across Elbert County. He was born and raised in Elbert and graduated from Elbert High School. He spent many years manning the gas station in town and spent the last 6+ years employed by Elizabeth Napa. He overcame a huge challenge 2 years ago, when he lost his leg to a foot infection. Cody will be remembered for being a huge teddy bear who always wanted to help people in his community! He will be greatly missed by all of us!

The Tweedy family has requested the department be the recipients of any meal, flower and monetary donations. They ask that visitors refrain from coming to their home, as they are struggling with grief at this time. If you would like to provide a meal for the family, personnel will be at the station from 3 pm to 7 pm for the remainder of this week. Due to allergic allergies, the family has requested no pork products. If you have any questions please feel free to call the station at (303) 648-3000.

Funeral arrangements are still underway, we will notify as the details come to us.

RIP dear friend, firefighter and brother! You are lost but will never be forgotten!
