Died, Thursday, January 20, 1898, at her home in Reece, from tumor, Mrs. Arista L. Barrier. Arista L. Everett was born December 28, 1866, in Ohio. In 1885 she with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.G. Everett located in our little village. She was for a year and a half a teacher in the schools in and near Reece. May 12, 1887, she became the wife of Mr. Julian H. Barrier, who died August 24, the same year. May 1, 1890, Mrs. Barrier was appointed postmistress for this place, and she has until her death faithfully and sucessfully discharged the duties of that office. For a number of years she has been a member of the Presbyterian church, a prominent Sunday school worker and president of the Christian Endeavor of that church. She was also the president of the Reece Equal Suffrage association.

Mrs. Barrier's illness begun three years ago, but she was not confined to her room until during the autumn of 1897.

The deceased leaves one child--a son Julian Everett Barrier, who will, as requested by the mother, reside with Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Barrier.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, January 21, by the regular pastor, Rev. S. C. Kerr, of Emporia, and the remains were interred in the Spring Creek cemetery beside those of her husband.

The following named persons from near Eureka attended the funeral of Mrs. Barrier in Reece Friday; Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Barrier, W.D. Barrier and sister Miss Cora; the Misses Alice and Minnie Loy; G.S. Sallyards, and the Misses Sadie and Louise Sallyards.
