Stella R. (Singleton) Chiplis, 84, Rossiter, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital. She was born July 8, 1922, in Wilgus, a daughter of Edward and Lavina (Hickok) Singleton.
Mrs. Chiplis was employed as a presser at Punxsy Sportswear for almost 10 years.
In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, needlework and cooking.
Surviving relatives include 11 children, Elbert Chiplis of Rochester Mills, Irene Smith of Smithport, Elberta Garcia of Illinois, Larry Chiplis of Illinois, JoAnne Rice of Rochester Mills, Jean Tate of Florida, Clifford Chiplis of Glen Campbell, Mary Klock of Illinois, Stella Shedd of Rochester Mills, Tim Chiplis of Rossiter, and Rose Olexy of Punxsutawney; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chiplis was preceded in death by her husband, Albert "Chip" H. Chiplis; an infant son, Addie Chiplis; a son, Tom Chiplis; a grandson, George Rice; and nine siblings, Cora Pierce, Grace Fridley, Veda Childers, Laura Henry, Bruce Singleton, Aarron Singleton, Ralph Singleton, James Singleton and Dewey Singleton.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2007, at the Rairigh Funeral Home Ltd., Hillsdale.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the funeral home with Layspeaker Janet Chiplis officiating.
Interment will follow at the Montgomery Cemetery in Glen Campbell.
