James Franklin Higgins, 85, of Waynesburg R.D. 3, died at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 1984, in his home of an apparent heart attack.

He was born March 21, 1898, in Whiteley Township, a son of John Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Zimmerman Higgins. His wife, Helen Orndoff Higgins, died January 31, 1959.

Mr. Higgins had lived all his life in Whiteley Township. He was a member of the Fairall United Methodist Church, administration board of the church, Fairall Cemetery Board, Greene County Fox Hunters and Greene County Horseman's Association.

Mr. Higgins had been employed for 43 years by the Carnegie Gas Co. retiring in 1964. He had also been a farmer and stock raiser.

He was the last of his family.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his wife are two sisters, Anna Myrtle Rockwell and May Margaret Webster, and three brothers, Walker Enos, John William and Harvey H. Higgins.
