Civiian Air Transport, World War II-Mr. Friedrich was killed in action on 4-30-1941 while serving his Country & Canada when his ship, S.S. Nerissa, was sunk by a German Submarine, U-552 by Capt. Erich Topp, with a party of 122 aboard. The ship lies 100 Miles off the Coast of Donegal, Ireland.

He is the son of Mr. William & Mrs. Ella {Kiser} Friedrich David of 219 North Underhill in Peoria, Illinois. Mr. Friedrich is a 1920 graduate of Chillicothe H.S. where he played Football very well, and is a 1924 graduate of Bradley College where he continued to play Football.

In March of 1941, he was hired as a Volunteer by the Canadian Government to ferry American Bombers between Canada and Great Britain.

His interest in flying airplanes started in 1929, and he was working at the Park's Air College in East St. Louis, Illinois as an Instructor.
