Jason Kyle Moran, 17, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014.

Jason was born April 14, 1997, in Franklin to Steve and Janet (Van Meter) Moran.

He is survived by his parents and his older brother and best friend, Jacob Aaron Moran, of Franklin. He also is survived by his paternal grandfather, Carlos Moran of Franklin; and by a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jason was preceded in passing by his paternal grandmother, Marcella (Gardner) Moran; maternal grandparents, Albert and Odell Van Meter; and cousin, Juliena Van Meter.

Jason was a rising senior at Franklin Community High School, where he participated in football, wrestling and track. He was a dedicated and passionate athlete who dearly loved all of his teammates and the spirit of competition.

Jason's wit, personal warmth and genuine concern for others is a model for all who know him. The deep love he demonstrated for his father, mother, brother, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends will be missed.

Affectionately he was known as "Baby J" by his family.

Jason was always ready for a good family party, a camping trip or a game of cards. Even though he was on the cusp of adulthood, Jason never lost the playfulness of childhood as he related to his younger cousins.

Although the loss of Jason has broken the hearts of his family, they are very grateful for the outpouring of love and support shown to them at this difficult time.

A celebration service of Jason's life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Franklin Community High School gymnasium, 2600 Cumberland Drive. A visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the high school. A private service will be held for the family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jason at First Merchants Bank or Mutual Savings Bank.

Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel, is handling arrangements.
