Born in Saint John, NB, on August 2, 1966, she was a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Duke) Swim. Mary Beth graduated from Kennebecasis Valley High School in 1984 and went on to complete her B.Ed. in Elementary Education at UNB Fredericton.
Mary Beth’s passion was her family and working with children. She worked at Early Intervention in Saint John and Sherwood Park, Alberta, and as an Elementary and Resource Teacher in Anglophone South School District, most recently at Rothesay Elementary School. She enjoyed camping, kayaking, boating, going for walks, cooking, and shopping. She was also an avid decorator and loved crafts, often making various items with a personal touch for her family and friends. Mary Beth was a kind and loving person, and was the ultimate hostess. She was taken from us far too soon.
Mary Beth is survived by her loving husband Ian Aasen, daughters Katrina and Taylor Aasen, sisters Debbie Pleadwell (John) of Rothesay and Kelly Melanson (Robbie) of Quispamsis, as well as several nieces and nephews, and her husband’s extended family.
Besides her parents, Mary Beth was predeceased by her infant brother Jamie Swim.
Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Thursday from 6-9 PM. Funeral Service will be held at Saint David's United Church, 7 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment to take place at Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
