James Larry "LC" Cook, 70, of Kopperston, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017. He was born on May 5, 1947, in Kopperston, the son of the late James Earl Cook (1922-1973) and Edith Mullins-Cook of Kopperston (1924-Deceased).

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his infant niece, Karri Topping (Deceased) and infant nephew, Micah Topping (Deceased).

Larry, known as "LC" or Brother" to many, graduated from Oceana High School in 1965. Many of his favorite stories to share were about being a member of the Oceana High School Basketball State Championship Teams of 1963 and 1965. He graduated with an Associate Degree from Beckley College in 1967 and then worked for 20 years at JC Hydraulics. He was also the main caregiver to his mother during her final years, a responsibility he proudly shared with his sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three sisters, Brenda Cook-Topping and her husband Randall Topping of Kopperston, Betsy Cook-Browning and her husband Glen Browning of Cyclone, and Diana Cook of Kopperston; a nephew, Randy Topping and his wife Christiania Topping of Jackson, GA; a niece, Megan Walker and her husband Matthew Walker of Kopperston; four great nephews, Van Topping of Pensacola FL, Lockwood Topping and his wife Victoria of Gardendale AL, Hudson Topping of Jackson GA, and Owen Walker of Kopperston; two great nieces, Madilyn Walker and Whitney Walker of Kopperston, and a host of other loving family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at Evans-Calfee Funeral Service, 1081 Cook Parkway, Oceana, with the Rev. Algie Cook and Brother Randall Topping officiating. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
