NOVEMBER 24, 1936 – OCTOBER 17, 2017

Sue Amory Jenkins, of Grapevine, TX, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all those who knew and loved her. Sue was born on November 24, 1936 in Hampton, VA, to the late Lorenzo Dolby Amory, Jr. and Cabell Bledsoe Amory. Sue graduated from Hampton High School, where she was a Crabbers Cheerleader and a member of the Delta Delta Kappa Sorority. She graduated from Longwood University in Farmville, VA, where she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. She met the love of her life at Virginia Beach and was united in marriage to Julian Lawrence Jenkins, Jr. on December 27, 1958. Sue was a children’s librarian for many years in both Hampton, VA and Arlington, TX schools. She enjoyed raising her three children and was a woman of great faith. She was an active member of Bible Study Fellowship for many years and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hampton, VA, Pantego Bible Church in Arlington, TX and Williamsburg Community Chapel in Williamsburg, VA, where she was involved in the Apples of Gold and Marriage Encounter ministries. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, decorating and spending time with her family. She was a consummate lady and a true Southern Belle. Survivors include her husband Julian Lawrence Jenkins, Jr. of Grapevine, TX; son, Julian Lawrence Jenkins III and his wife Andrea of Charlotte, NC; son, Brian Amory Jenkins and his wife Deborah of Colleyville, TX; Christy Jenkins Van Duinen and her husband, Scott of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren – Nicole Jenkins Williams and her husband Ryan of North Richland Hills, TX; Lauren Elizabeth Jenkins of Nashville, TN; Brian Amory Jenkins, Jr. of Euless, TX; Kristen Alexandra Jenkins of Charlotte, NC; John “Jack” Ryan Van Duinen, Caleb Fulton Van Duinen and Ethan Amory Van Duinen, all of Dallas, TX; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Amory Knight of Hampton, VA. The funeral service will be at 12:30 pm on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034.
