Bo was Larry Moody Sr's last dog and roommate. He was barely one year old when Larry's friend offered him the bulldog and said if he didn't want Bo, he would take him to the pound. Larry asked about the dog's background, and discovered his mother was an English Bulldog, his father was an American Bulldog, clean health and very friendly. Larry had lost his wife's cocker spaniel, Scruffy, the previous year, and he told Bo, "Bulldog, you need a home and I need some company," and he adopted Bo. The first time I saw him, I asked Pop Moody, "Why did you bring home that ugly thing?" He nodded toward Bo, spit a stream of Red Man, and said, "I like bulldogs, and he won't root against Georgia when they play football." Bo immediately became a member of the Family, quickly adapted to Pop Moody's home, and he was Pop Moody's live-in roommate for the last 9 years of the old cop's life. Pop let Bo take over the corner of Mom Moody's sofa where Scruffy used to sleep, including the tan, fleece lined throw on which Scruffy slept. Every time Pop Moody cooked a meal, he always cooked a minimum of two: one plate for himself and one for Bo, and they ate together. Bo loved the holidays and the other dogs, especially those belonging to the neighbor next door. He did not like riding in a vehicle much and would not get near Pop Moody's pontoon boat, Southern Comfort. He also did not like his picture taken and stealth was required to photograph the Box Head. Every Christmas, he got a summer sausage from Pop Moody and loved the excitement that the holidays generated. When Pop Moody's angina or diabetes put him in the hospital, I would have to housesit with the Box Head until Pop Moody was released and could come home. When Pop Moody went to the hospital for the last time in 2014, he told me, "Rick, I'll understand if you put Bo down once I'm gone." I promised him that I would never put Bo down unless there was no alternative, and the Box Head would live within Pop's Home in Satsuma, Florida until he passed as well. My wife, Susan, and I kept that promise. Bo was greatly depressed when Pop Moody passed away, and we were greatly worried that he would grieve himself to death. Susan moved into Pop Moody's estate, kept the home running and took care of Bo. Bo slowly transitioned from being Pop Moody's roommate to being Susan's ward. She continued spoiling him with good meals, great company and lots of tender loving care. She noticed that Bo did not like the tan, fleece lined throw after Pop Moody passed away, and dragged it off the couch every time he found it there. As he aged, he began suffering from debilative arthritis which required medication and pain killers. He torshuned his stomach and was inoperable due to his age and deteriorating health. He was euthanized at the Animal Health Center with Susan and I present and giving him support during his passing. His passing wounded the Family greatly. God bless you, Bo Ham. As Pop Moody noted before his passing, "He's a great bulldog." In human years, Bo would have been approximately 94.5 years old.

LIFE: 13 Years, 5 Months, 24 Days

CAUSE OF DEATH: Stomach Torshun/ Euthanized

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
"There is a bridge connecting heaven and earth.// It is called Rainbow Bridge because of its many colours.// Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills, valleys with lush green grass.// When a beloved pet dies , the pet goes to this special place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather.// The old and frail are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again.// They play all day with each other. There is only one thing missing.// They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth.// So each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up !// The nose twitches !// The ears are up !// The eyes are staring !// And this one suddenly runs from the group !// You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her into your arms and embrace.// Your face is kissed again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.// Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated."

A DOG'S PRAYER
"Treat me kindly, my beloved Master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your "voice" is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps fall upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements. And I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. Though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest house in all the land, for you are my god and I am your devoted worshiper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life should your life be in danger.

And, beloved Master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest - and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands."
