Obituary
Walter Napier Corrigan, born November 12, 1923, in San Antonio, Texas, to Estelle and Francis Corrigan, went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2010. Walter was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and faithful friend. Walter was a civic minded leader to whom making a difference in his community mattered.

Walter attended St. Peter's Prince of the Apostles and St. Pius X Catholic Churches; graduated from Alamo Heights High School and the Naval Academy, where he played football and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering; served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War; and was the President and Director of Sommers Drug Stores Company until he sold the Company in 1970. Walter enjoyed life and was active in the Boy Scouts Alamo Area Council, Southwest Football Officials Association, the Trinity Football Committee, San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, Trinity Touchdown Club, San Antonio Quarterback Club, San Antonio Golf Association, the Town Club, The Rotary Club, San Antonio Country Club, the San Antonio Livestock Exposition, and the Cavaliers, serving as King Antonio XLIII in 1965.

Walter was extremely interested in the betterment of his community and served as the first General Chairman of the United Fund, a director of the National Bank of Commerce and the National Association Chain Drug Stores Association, a member of the Board of Governors for Southwest Research Institute, a member of the Boards of Directors for the San Antonio Zoo, Boys Club, Guadalupe Community Center, Chairman of the Health Coordinating Committee Alamo Area Council of Governments, Chairman of the Texas Research League as well as many other organizations.

Walter had the honor of being recognized as the San Antonio Junior Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Young Man of San Antonio and the Texas Junior Chamber of Commerce Award as one of Five Outstanding Young Men of Texas.

Walter is survived by son, Tex Corrigan and wife, Carol of San Antonio, Texas and granddaughters, Lisa and Rebecca Corrigan; daughter, Anne Horn and husband, Scott of San Antonio, Texas and granddaughter, Ginna Crocker and husband, Michael; great grandchildren, Grace and Corbin; granddaughter, Sarah Anderson and husband, Jeff; great granddaughter, Rollins. Walter's zest for life, sense of humor, and generosity of spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
