Lucille Louise Burke, 89, Bismarck, died October 26, 2017, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.

Lucille was born April 10, 1928, to Cory Kenneth and Lula Belle (Miller) Lane. She was raised in the Moffit/McKenzie area and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1947. Lucille married Monty C. Burke in Pierre, SD, on October 24, 1947. The couple purchased a farm and her career as a farmer began. Lucille took great pride in working with Monty on the farm whether milking cows, baling hay, or plowing a field, she was proud of it all. At the same time, she had six children, Monty Jr., Terry, Greg, Linda, Craig and Patricia. She was an excellent Mom. Lucille was an amazing cook, her fried chicken, roast beef, and potato salad were the best. Many Sundays were spent around the Burke family dining table with friends and family from near and far enjoying Lucille’s culinary abilities.

Lucille belonged to the Farm Bureau and other farm organizations. She enjoyed the company of her Homemaker’s Club. Lucille and Monty spent many winters snowbirding in Texas where they loved the fishing. They made many friends in Texas, especially in Port Isabel.

Following Monty’s death in 1999, Lucille remained on the farm until her later years. Lucille lived at Touchmark and Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center.
