MRS. MILDRED CORNWELL
(1900-1955)
Mrs. Mildred Cornwell, 55, a lifelong resident of Portsmouth, died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday in Mercy Hospital.
Mrs. Cornwell, who lived at 2922 Gallia St., was a member of the First Christian Church. She had been a fancy stitcher for the Selby Shoe Co. for 30 years.
She was born in Portsmouth May 2, 1900, a daughter of Charles E. and Carry Grady Monk, both of whom survive. The parents reside on Eighth St. in West Portsmouth.
Also surviving are two sons, William Schweinsberg, of 3002 Gallia St., and Charles Cornwell of Minford Rt. 1; three daughters, Mrs. Harold Morgan of Cincinnati, Mrs. Harold Bowman of McDermott, and Mrs. Gladys Keller of North Moreland; and 15 grandchildren.
Mrs. Cornwell also leaves three brothers, Harold Monk of Marion, Fred Monk of West Portsmouth, and Charles Monk of North Moreland; and four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Hayes of Covington, Ky., Mrs. Stanley Hudson of Cincinnati, Mrs. David Lambert, 1233 24th St., and Mrs. Mary Cooper of Philadelphia.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Schweinsberg, her second husband, Ira Bert Cornwell, and on daughter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church. Burial will follow in Rushtown Cemetery under the direction of Brock Funeral Home.
