Brother Luther Burney, of First Baptist Church of Lafayette, will be the officiating minister. Drew Massicot and Tommy Bell will provide music for the service.
Ms. Massicot was born February 22, 1927 in Louisville, KY and was a resident of Lafayette since 1946. She was co-owner and office manager of Lafayette Electrical Supply from 1959 until her retirement in 1990.
Blanche loved spending time with her family and will be remembered for her unique sense of humor, her caring spirit, and boundless energy. She enjoyed traveling the USA and toured six continents. As a longtime member of First Baptist Church she enjoyed participating in many of its activities.
She is survived by her children Gary Massicot and his wife Susie, Mary Landry and her husband Gab, and Jan Johnson and her husband Matt, all of Lafayette, LA, Julie Massicot of Duson, LA, Faye Skonberg of Alameda, CA, and Drew Massicot and his wife Therese Belanger of San Diego, CA; her daughter-in-law Kathy Massicot of Destin, FL; and her two sisters, Tenie Abbott and Chris Bell, both of Louisville, KY.
She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren: Davin and Justin Skonberg, Shantel Hebert, Jennifer M. Jewell and Mandy M. Kauffman, Susan L. Heaton-Jones, John, Greg, Grady, and Jacob Landry, Kristi and Leah Massicot, Jared Coates, and Trey, Blake, Leigh and Jill Johnson; by her eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Herman Nunn and the former Eva James, both of Kentucky; her first husband Stanley Massicot, her second husband E.J. Orgeron, her son Bobby Massicot, her son-in-law Blake Blevins, her sister Jo N. Cook, and her two brothers Hampton and Gordon Nunn.
The family requests that visiting hours at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home be observed from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2009, and resume on Saturday, January 3, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
Pallbearers will be John, Greg, Grady and Jacob Landry, Trey and Blake Johnson, Gaige Hebert and Jared Coates.
The family extends special thanks to Josette Richard and other caregivers for their love and compassionate care given to Blanche, and to Southern Care Hospice of Scott, LA.
