Archibald, Ross Rupert - 94 of Dartmouth passed away on December 12, 2010 in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Truro he was son of the late Ernest and Florence Fielding Archibald.Ross was an avid hockey player, known as "Speed Ball Archie" he played for the Truro Bearcats when they were the 1935 Provincial Junior Champions. Ross was a veteran of WWII where he drove a tank. He volunteered in many roles including, cub leader, minor ball coach, daffodil campaign with the cancer society, the Dartmouth soup kitchen as well as many others. He was member of the Port Wallace United Church and helped again in a variety of capacities. Ross enjoyed dancing, singing, fishing, hunting and spending time at the camp with Helen, the love of his life, his sons, grandchildren, family and friends. As an electrician by trade he worked with Bryant Elecrtic and Comstock, finishing his career at Shearwater. He accomplished many things in his long life but most importantly he was a kind person who brought joy to the lives he touched. Surviving are his wife of 60 years Helen (Lynds). Son, Doug Archibald (Sherry), Enfield, grandchildren, Erin (Greg) Kerner; Huntsville Alabama, Chelsie Archibald, St. Andrews, NB, Kristoffer Archibald, Mary-Beth Archibald, Enfield, great-grandson, Jackson Kerner sisters, Ardyth Parfinuk, Barb (Ralph) McCallum, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son, Dana, brothers, Ronald and Doug, sisters, Norma and Marjorie Olacke. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Tues. Dec. 14 from 7-9 pm in Port Wallace United Church 263 Waverley Road Dartmouth where memorial service will be held on Wed Dec. 15 at 1pm Rev. Ivan Gregan officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Burial at a later date in Aenon Baptist Cemetery, North River. Donation in memory of Ross can be made to Port Wallace United Church or Prostate Cancer Research.
