Obituary for William Gilbert Bigham
William G. Bigham died Friday, October 27th in Newberry, South Carolina. Born March 31, 1920 to parents Neely Walter Bigham, and Daisy Morrison Bigham. Mr. Bigham is pre-deceased by wife, Frances Landford Bigham, daughter, Joyce B. Mr. Bigham served in World War Two as a member of the United States Army earning a Purple Heart. Mr. Bigham was a long time resident of Clinton, South Carolina. He worked and retired from Clinton’s US Post Office. As a Postman, he knew virtually every street in Clinton and a great many of the town's residence. As lifelong member of the Davidson Street Baptist Church, he served in many positions including Deacon, various committee memberships and Sunday School Teacher. He made an impact on countless elementary/middle school children who were in his Bible Learners Class by buying them leather bound Bible with their name embossed on the cover if they could memorize the requisite number of Bible verses. He loved his family, and he will be greatly missed by all of them. Survivors include one daughter, Dianne B. Hunnicutt; sons-in-law, Alan Hunnicutt and Phil Crapps; grandchildren, Kensla Crapps, Phillip Crapps, and Todd (Liz) Hunnicutt as well as 10 great-grandchildren and 18 nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:00pm on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Davidson Street Baptist Church (Clinton, SC) where the Deacons of Davidson Street will serve as the Pallbearers (Mr. Bigham’s Sunday School Class will serve as the Honorary Pallbearers). A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service (2-4 PM). Interment will follow at Rosemont Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Davidson Street Baptist (Building Fund).
