WALTER R. MANKEY, 66, died Monday at Wells Community Hospital. Born in Harrison
Township, Wells County, he retired in 1989 from General Electric Co. after 39
years. He was a Korean War Marine veteran. Surviving are his wife, Helen; two
sons, Leroy and Gordon, both of Bluffton; four daughters, Charlene Royer of
French Lick, Marlene Mankey of Canada, Sandra Myer of North Judson and Becky
Fishbaugh of Huntington; two brothers, Ralph of Decatur and Carl of Craigville;
six sisters, Freda McBride of Ossian, Mabel Denis of Fort Wayne, Dorothy Hoffman
of Prebble, Mary Gould of Decatur, Patsy Dafforn of Yoder and Laura Werling of
Tocsin; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services at 10:30 a.m.
Thursday at Goodwin Memorial Chapel, Bluffton. Calling from noon to 9 p.m.
today. Burial in Pleasant Dale Cemetery, Adams County. Memorials to American
Cancer Society.
