He graduated from New London, Iowa, high school and earned an associate of arts degree from Columbia College, Columbia, Mo.
Jake married Pat Murphy on Aug. 3, 1962, at Mount Reiner, Md. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 30 years of service from the Army National Guard.
For the past three years, Jake worked part-time for Andrew County Mo. Jake was a member of the Dick Munkres American Legion Post No. 287, Savannah; and helped to start the American Legion Baseball League in Savannah. Jake coached the girl's softball team L&J. He was a true Savage fan, attending all Savannah baseball, basketball and football games.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ivan and Jack Jacobs; and sisters, Vera Coyle and June Huss.
Leo is survived by his wife, Pat of the home; daughters and fiancés, Tami Jacobs and Mark Armstrong, Savannah; and Tina Jacobs and John Wilson, St. Joseph; son and daughter-in-law, Deron and Andrea Jacobs, St. Joseph; sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Allen Hulme, Clifton, Texas; grandchildren, Josh Jacobs, Kayla Huffman, Erica Jacobs, Jason Jacobs, Kyle Hartenstein and Tommy Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Breit-Hawkins & Gladden Funeral Home, Savannah. Interment, with full military honors, was at Savannah, Mo., Cemetery.
