Leslie Gene Hamann is the ninth and youngest child of Alfred Gustav August Hamann and Pauline Ludwine Prinz Hamann. He was born on September 5, 1937. He was married to Wanda Louise who died on May 2, 2013. His siblings were: Roy Gustav Alfred, Raymond Ewald Ernest (Lynn Patterson), Harry Lee Richard Paul (Thekla Kasiske), Alline Fay (Charles Funk), Lucille Alvina (Sherman Beaman), Alfred Gustav August Jr. "Jim" (Betty Bird), Lester Gustav, and Shirley Yvonne (Eugene Mundkowsky).

Leslie Hamann was called home to his Heavenly Father on September 15, 2023, at the age of 86.

He was raised in the Richland Community, graduated from Pflugerville High School, and farmed in the area all of his life. Leslie's smile was contagious and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Leslie dedicated his life to fostering a love of the land and livestock by his involvement with organizations including the Texas Independent Cattlemen's Association and the Travis County 4-H Club in which he received the Silver Spur award. He was an original member of the Cele Community Farmers buyer's group who supported FFA and 4-H in Travis County since 1967. Additionally, he was a founder of the Texas Exposition and Heritage Center, member of the Austin-Travis County Livestock Show and Rodeo for which he was recognized for over 50 years of support. On weekends, Leslie enjoyed making BBQ and greeting all the customers at Cele Store. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Leslie is survived by his daughter, Donna and husband Paul Lutz, Jimmy Don and Charlotte Havins, Vicki and Gary Barker; his grandchildren, Brady and Emma Lutz, Cameron Lutz, Lynanne Lutz, Travis and Jaimie Havins, Tyler Havins, Kimberly and JT McCoy, David and Lauren Barker; and his great-grandchildren Tilden Lutz, Cynthia and Christopher McCoy and Jay and Logan Barker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda.

Visitation will be held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 17701 Cameron Road, Pflugerville, TX 78660 on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 10:00 AM with the service and burial following at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pallbearers will be Brady Lutz, Cameron Lutz, Travis Havins, Tyler Havins,
and David Barker
