H. W. WHITE FUNERAL
IS LARGELY ATTENDED
The funeral of Hastings White, who
passed away last Wednesday morning
after a week's illness of pneumonia,
was held Thursday at his late home
in Paddock's Village, Rev. Frank S.
Tolman officiating at the home
services whiles the Odd Fellows'
ceremonies were held at the interment.
The attendance was large, many
from out of town being present, as
well as representative bodies from
fraternal organizations of which Mr.
White was a member. The following
orders were represented at the ser
vices:
Canton Crescent No. 2., I. O. O. F.,
which served as escort, attended in
a body; Olive Branch Rebekah Lodge,
No. 4, present in a body; Green
Mountain Lodge, N. E. O. P., which
was also present in a body.
Relatives from out of town who
came to St. Johnsbury. for the
funeral were: Mrs. Gertie
Harrington, of North Ferrisburg;
Mrs. Frank Bickford, of Laconia;
Henry White, of Corinth; and
Mrs. Lewis Keenan, of Groton.
The body was interred at Grove
Cemetery, East St. Johnsbury.
Hastings White was born in St.
Johnsbury, June 9, 1866, the son of
James and Clarissa Bowman White.
He was, educated in the public schools
here, and while still a young man went
to Boston, where he worked for eleven
years. He was married September 9,
1892, to Miss Annie Rycroft of that
city, who survives him.
They came to St. Johnsbury 23
years ago, and since that time Mr.
White has carried on the milk
business established here by
his father. During his many
years' residence here, Mr. White
had formed a large acquaintance
and all regret his sudden death.
He is survived by his wife and three
children, Clarissa, Mrs. Harry Carr
of Danville, Wilmot and Adelene, two
sisters, Mrs. Claude Welfoot of St.
Johnsbury, and Mrs. Frank Bickford
of Laconia, N. H., and. two brothers,
Henry of Corinth and Alphonso of St.
Johnsbury.
