John Arvid Anderson was born on June 24th, 1893 in Kansas City, Mo., and passed away on June 24th, 1932 at his home in Wakeeney, Kansas at the age of 39 years. He grew to manhood in Kansas City, and in 1916, he came to Delphos, Kansas, where he lived until June 24th, 1918, when he enlisted in the United States Army for the World War and was assigned to the 349th regiment in the 88th Division in the Hospital Corps. He remained in service until the end of the war, having received his honorable discharge in June of 1919. After his discharge, he returned to Delphos and engaged in the mercantile business for a few years, when he moved to Wakeeney, Kansas, making this his home until his untimely death.

On January 23rd, 1917, he was joined in marriage to Miss Lucy Jones at Delphos. To this union were born nine children, 2 of whom preceded their father in death in infancy.

He is survived by his wife, three sons and four daughters of the home in Wakeeney; his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rossvall, two half-brothers, Roy and Charles Rosvall, Jr. of Denver, Color., and three sisters, Mrs. Helen Garst of Quinter, Kansas, Mrs. Edith Roberts and Mrs. Nettie Nichols of Denver, Colo., besides more distant relatives and friends.

He was confirmed as a member in the Lutheran Church when a lad and held his membership in that church until the time of his death. He had been an incurable invalid for more than 2 years and his going, though untimely, is blessed release for him.

Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian Church in Delphos on Sunday afternoon, the Rev. Ernest L. Brown officiating. A mixed quartet, composed of Mrs. J.H. Richards, Mrs. R.H. James, Gerald Griggs and W.F. Turrentine, Jr., sang the hymns, "Rock of Ages", "Face to Face", and "No Night There". Comrades of the World War, James Shea, Maurice Halley, Forney Davis, Ralph Allison, Bert Bourne, and Ralph Franklin, were pallbearers. The American Legion Post of Glasco conducted the military burial ceremonies at the grave in the Delphos Cemetery.
