Fred was preceded in death by his first wife, Anne Etta Stockard Painter in 1966. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother Sam, and sister Helen and husband Clyde Dixon, and sister Wannell and husband Grady Aaron. Fred is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 48 years, Ferne Bernard Painter, daughter, Diane Bernard, son Greg Bernard and his wife Lisa, twin brother Edd Painter, and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
After attending Lewisville High School, he served proudly in the United States Navy from 1944 through 1946. Following his tour of duty, Fred became an accountant and was employed by Firestone for 20 years, and Commercial Metals Corporation for 25 years.
Fred was known at the Lewisville Senior Center to be a fierce, determined, and competitive domino player. But to his family and friends, Fred was known as a gentle, quiet, and loving man who was dearly loved by them.
