Bomford, Lucy Joyce (JOY) 1922-2014 Joy passed away peacefully in Vernon on Thursday, February 6th, 2014 at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her husband, Claude, in Armstrong in March, 1992. Left to mourn is son Jack (Donna) of Calgary, AB and their children, Shaun, Michelle (Allan) and their respective families – Sarah, Meghan, Jesse, Jarrid and Becky. In Vernon she leaves her daughter, Marge, and grandson, Darcy and Cassandra (Redding), Brydon and Owen. Joy was the second eldest of a family of fifteen. Also mourning are surviving siblings along with their families, namely; Maurice (Irene), Ollie (Gerry), Inez, Jack (Bonnie). Mom and Dad left Manitoba in 1971 to move west to live near Calgary where their children and grandchildren had settled. In 1980 they moved to Armstrong, two years after their daughter and grandson moved to Vernon and where four of her brothers had relocated several years prior. Mom will be remembered for being busy with the community, homemaking, bowling, shuffleboard, square dancing and playing cards, although she hated to lose! Back on the farm in southern Manitoba she was very instrumental in forming a ladies group - the 'Palmerston Pals' for those farm ladies in the area, not too far from our home town of Crandall, MB. Mom worked outside of the home as a cashier in a grocery store, at a bakery, a restaurant and also as staff at the Father Lacombe Nursing Home in Midnapore, AB. Mom had a zest for life and loved to travel, even after Dad had passed. She was a busy lady who loved her family, adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and had a great love for pets, birds and nature. During the past few years, Mom resided at Heron Grove and we'd like to thank the staff there for the special care and attention they gave Mom in her final years. A Remembrance Celebration will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to www.MyAlternatives.ca Cremation arrangements entrusted to ALTERNATIVES FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES
