Evelene Helms Adkins, 90, formerly of Collinsville, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017 in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Evelene was born July 7, 1927 in Bassett, Va., to the late Harvey Leonard and Martha Louetta Turner Helms. She retired from Fieldcrest Mills as a weaver with 30 plus years of faithful service. She later then went on to become a beautician. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville where she sang in the choir for 65 years. Her love for music leads her to sing in several traveling quartets.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Simmons Adkins; four sisters, Lucy Triplett, Mary Wright, Irene Saul, Laura Marshall and Alice Handy; two brothers, B. J. Helms and Amos Helms.

Surviving is one son, Ron (Sherry) Adkins of Winston-Salem, N.C.; granddaughter, Carol (Matt Wynn) Adkins; step grandsons, Dan and David Naughton; step granddaughter, Laurie Naughton; step great granddaughters, Caitlyn and Savannah Wolff.

Family will receive friends Monday, November 6, 2017 noon to 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Collinsville, 3339 Virginia Ave., with services to follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Larry Cheek, officiating.

Burial to follow in Roselawn Burial Park.

Memorials may be made to the music ministry department of the church in Evelene's honor.
