Volney Blaine Anderson, 92, died Feb 15, 2000 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was born Dec 29, 1907 in West Jordan, Utah to Victor Emanuel and Grace Lily Bricker Anderson. Blaine married Amanda Sylvia Cannon on Nov 12, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in 1995.

Blaine worked at Kennecott Copper for 35 years, was a skilled hunter and fisherman, and an avid rockhound. He served in Scouting and was a temple worker. He attended Cyprus and Jordan High Schools and LDS Business College, and played basketball on school and church teams, and was known as "shifty" from his basketball playing.

He is survived by brothers, Dr. Richard H. (Bernice) Anderson of CA; David W. (Carol) of Holladay; stepmother, Mabel O. Anderson of Salt Lake; five children, Jerry B. (Shirley) of Price; Douglas Q. (Karen) of Taylorsville; Byron C. (Gloria) of West Valley; Edith (David) Streiff of Newport Beach, CA; Mark A. (Pam) of St. David, AZ; 36 grandchildren, and 64 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by sister, Elizabeth and brothers, Edwin and Ernest B. (Pat) Anderson.

Funeral services will be Saturday Feb 19, 12 noon, at the 20th Ward, 107 G Street, Salt Lake. A viewing will be held Friday, Feb 18, 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake, and at the ward Saturday one hour prior to the funeral. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery following services.
