The family of Marian Joan Swank is saddened to announce the passing of their beloved mother and grandmother. Marian, age 76, of Cave Creek, Arizona, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of the late Michael Lee Swank, her high school sweetheart, who preceded her in death after 57 years of marriage.
She was the deeply devoted mother to Connie (CJ) Swank, Sandra Snell (wife of Jeff Snell), and Anne Swank, Mike Brosnahan, Jeffrey Swank, Aaron Swank, Paul Swank, and Chris Swank; and her late children, Michael L. Swank, Jr. (deceased), Peter Swank (deceased), Melissa Swank (deceased), and Tim Swank; and 20 Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
Marian was born in Dayton, Ohio, to Goldie and Charles Hayden and was the 6th of 7 children. She was a foster parent with Catholic Charities for 28 years. Michael and Marian fostered over 250 children and adopted 8 of their 12 children.
Visitation will be held 5:00 – 8:00 pm, Rosary at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary, 6500 E. Bell Road, Scottsdale, followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 am, Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Cave Creek, AZ.
