William Joseph Scanlon Jr., 66, of Punta Gorda and Franklin Lakes, died on Friday, February 4, 1994. He was an attorney with William Scanlon Law Offices in Englewood Cliffs. William was also a former magistrate in the Palisades Park Municipal Court. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4365 in Palisades Park. William graduated in 1944 from Leonia High School, Fordham University and Fordham Law School. He was a parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church in Franklin Lakes. William was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 3550 in Palisades Park, Fort Lee Athletic Club, the Bergen County Bar Association, and the Hackensack Golf Club in Emerson. Beloved husband of Anne Elizabeth (nee Bederka) Scanlon. Devoted father of Patricia A. (nee Scanlon) Egan of Ramsey and Kathleen M. (nee Scanlon) Deutsch of Haworth. Loving grandfather of 5 grandchildren. Local arrangements were finalized by the Roberson Funeral Home, 215 Mary Street, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. Visitation was offered on Monday, February 7, 1994 and Tuesday, February 8, 1994 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417. The funeral service was arranged in the funeral home on Wednesday, February 9, 1994 at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral mass conducted at 10 AM in the Most Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 787 Franklin Lake Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417. Cremation followed at Rosedale Crematory.
